This project, focused on supporting tourism in the Bohemian-Saxon border region, aims to interconnect and promote the monuments and important sites of the historical Vogtland. Once also almost the whole salient of Asch region belonged to there and therefore the Seeberg castle can be added to it as it is lying on the very border of medieval Egerland and Vogtland. On 13th September 2016, the Monitoring Committee of the Cooperation Program “Czech Republic - Free State of Saxony 2014-2020” approved the financial support of the project from the EU funds amounting to 1.76 million EUR. Over the next three years, eleven project partners from Bohemia, Thuringia and Saxony, including Franzensbad, will touristically enhance and highlight the cultural and historical monuments of the former Vögte domains. The output of the project will be primarily a cultural guide to this area in the form of a comprehensive multilingual publication, a network of information boards on historical sites and buildings, information leaflets, websites, a common cultural and educational offer and sub-outputs of individual project partners. A part of the project is also a series of additional activities such as meetings of workers and friends of museums and historical sites, exhibitions, lectures in support of cultural tourism and preparation of programs for schools.
The entrance areas at the Seeberg Castle were newly refurbished during 2017, now also serving as a tourist information centre, providing visitors with the most important information and tips for trips to the historic Vogtland area.
